Prison Camps in the civil war killed tens of thousands of people. It caused rampant diseases and infections. The people in the camps were skeletal because of the lack of food and resources. Entire camps would come down with diseases and wouldn't be healed for months because it would just keep getting spread around.
Prison camps meant for 800 people were filled with up to 1200. They were incredibly overfilled and the doctors had little or no medicine to heal their patients.
